Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

Even though we can regard Sundays win as a freebie because we didnt expect it, I am doubtful we can reproduce Sunday's performance on a regular basis during the run in so I am hoping Grimsby's awful run can continue .Certainly Jolley hasn't had an immediate impact but that doesn't mean he wont extract some improvement in the near future .I will certainly be looking at Grimsby's score as much as our own because this is our only chance of staying up in my opinion .
We are so difficult to predict ,we have an awful period then just when you think all is lost we produce results like Luton and Notts County so I am going to predict a low finishing total of 44 points and anything above it is a bonus .Whether that will be enough to finish above Grimsby is anybody's guess. If we beat PV on Friday I may revise my total.

Good god Blue we agree 100% on something. We are far too inconsistent to get the results we need to do it on our own. Its all down to Grimsby and Port Vale and how bad they are for the remaining games.
I reckon percentage wise our chances of staying up are around 20%. Grimsby have to turn it around sooner or later and Vale have been very hit and miss all season but they can at least get results. This will go down to the wire IMO Barnet away could be an absolute killer.

I didn't think he was a big enough influence to be hated for his own sake. Shows how wrong I can be!

I do kind of fear Stevenage may go on a very bad run. I don't see why they sacked their manager in the first place, and bringing in a former striker from their non-league days will either be a fillip, or more likely a coal chute.

I thought our chances of staying up were about 20%, make that 10% now. We needed 1 point yesterday and couldn't even get it against 10 men for the second half.
I still think we will finish bottom and Barnet have a better chance of staying up than Grimsby.

Monday - 17.00

We've beaten Newport.
Grimsby got Akinfenwaed at Wycombe.
Stevenage sicked up their Easter eggs and attacked Barnet all over the park.
Crewe abused Port Vale and investigated the back of the net several times.

Don't think it'll happen but ......... when we win it isn't the second coming despite Easter, we're still a rubbish team trying to overtake others who don't suggest they are all that much better. And when we lose it doesn't mean we're much different from the team that accidentally won the week before ........

And of course NOW Jack's told the team we have to deal with the ball better. If they didn't know that before it has to at least add Dancing's 10% back on.

Inconsistency has blighted our season ,too many players were below par yesterday .Talbot,Nelson ,Hines and Brown all performed below what they have shown they are capable of and this is the reason why our results are inconsistent and probably the reason we will go down.Talbot was to blame for their first with a poor clearance ,Brown just never got past his man and lost the ball too many times,Hines faded second half and Nelson was dominated by Pope
The inability to keep a clean sheet is a big worry and Jack has to take the blame for this ,he and his coaching staff organise the team .
Having said that we should really have got something from the game ,we had numerous opportunities after they scored their second.
Next two games are probably the biggest in our history ,win both and we will probably stay up ,lose both and we are down.
All sorts of permutations still and enough points left to play for .If we win 4 out of our last 8 and including beating Grimsby ,I think we could still stay up.

Blue, there is no way we will win 4 out of 8. Deep down you know that and so does Matt now. We are inconsistent, unpredictable and utterly crap when we are off our game. We should have been bouncing yesterday after last weeks showing but yet again it was the day after the Lord Mayors Show.
Time to plan for next season and get some big cloggers in.

Not impossible to win 4 out of 8 but its very very very unlikely especially when you take into account our form. Our form has been inconsistent and we can't seem to get a run of form going. I think the problem we have is there seems to be no height or physicality in this squad. We need to close down teams when they have the ball and also not allow them to run at us.

If we don't get anything from the Newport or Grimsby match then it's time to face facts and accept relegation.

Also people who are expecting us to bounce straight back into the league if/when we go down are going to get a shock.

I think you are wrong about the "cloggers" Dancing, but we will need players capable of withstanding and putting in physical challenges. But there are good footballers in the Vanarama too. We need to aim to create a side that would be capable of fighting for the play-offs in Division Two, even to get ourselves back into that division.

I don't think Macclesfield or Sutton could be classed as cloggers. (By the way Byron Harrison was named in the Team of the Week for his 45 minutes in Sutton's abandoned game, they comment suggested the opposition would have been pleased not to face another half up against him.)

As to our loans, Matlock were waterlogged again, and Brewster got 23 minutes as sub when Chorley's best player got injured, but didn't rate a mention otherwise.
