Chesterfield director Ashley Carson says the club understands a bid may be received from a potential new owner by the end of the month. Addressing rumours of a potential takeover that surfaced over the weekend, the company secretary revealed that a meeting has taken place with an interested party. While the identity of the potential buyer remains confidential, Carson told the Derbyshire Times it’s foreign investment behind the interest. “It’s obvious we need new money coming into the club and in the new year it will be my priority to start to look for that again,” he said. “There has been someone contact the club and we are to expect a bid.“A meeting has taken place and we understand a bid is to come in before the end of the month, they’re very interested.”Club owner Dave Allen took the club off the market in July when enquiries from an interested party fizzled out.But Carson says bids are welcome again. “If anyone is serious I would encourage them to get in touch with me, I’m open to people talking to me with a sensible offer,” he said.Carson also revealed that being bottom of League Two has, perhaps predictably, had an adverse affect on the club’s financial position - along with the managerial upheaval due to a poor start to the season.“The cost of the position at the bottom of the league is costing us in terms of fans coming through the door, which heavily impacts the revenue cash wise,” he said.“The cost to replace the management has been around £200,000.”

I understand its a Chinese consortium the SumDimToohat Corporation. They want to make the ground double tier and fill in the corners. They believe the catchment area is untapped and that they can make fans switch from Sheff Utd and Weds as well as Derby and Notts Forrest achieving gates of 35,000 plus. They will give the manager a budget of £20million for next season. However, they want to increase the admission price by £1 and put up the price of replica shirts by £10 so I can see the fans being totally opposed to this one.

Joking aside, is it Mike Ashley? Bailing out at Newcastle and rumoured to have expressed interest in "a lower league" club. Well you cant get any lower than us. Sports direct are only up the road so he must spend time in the area. I could well imagine this has a bit of a possibility ring to it ie another crook. Not that I'm implying Mike Ashley is a crook, he's probably very honest and a great bloke to work for, I just wouldn't trust him with my football club.

Well a Newcastle fan runs our local shop here and he was so delighted this morning that the Staveley deal might go through he was trying to serve with both hands in the air whilst singing Doo dah doo dah .........
If Mike Ashley takes us over my life will become so unbearable I'll be forced to burn down the shop!

Seriously though Ashley would be brilliant for us and his money combined with Jacks team management would get us shooting up the leagues.

Try a couple of shifts at Shirebrook before you fall in love with yet another unsuitable man Pooch.
He'd ditch Jack in a flash and bring Dennis Wise out of the jungle.
Newcastle fans all over the country would sooner have Amanda Staveley in charge, about whom they know next to nothing, than Ashley who they've known for years. That must tell you something.
I'll stick with DA when I need a crooked entrepreneur. Ashley would be better than the Oystons, but only just.

I'll agree with you Dev 100% even though I want rid of DA. My heads in a much better place than yours Blue, at least I can remember what I have said and what people have done in the past. Why ditch 1 big headed opinionated multi millionaire for another? Please give me somebody who at least seems to be clean, straightforward and above all honest (well I can hope cant I).
If you seriously believe he would be good for us then I honestly think its you that's delusional Blue and it really does explain a lot (delusional = a symptom of mental disorder). How many players do you think we would bring in on zero hours contracts? It just doesn't bear thinking about.
