Is the Mail's way of saying that Marc Wilson, "if we sign him", will not get a game, short of an emergency?

Can I ask a question ........... do we have an academy?
Are we becoming a care home for elderly and retired footballers.
There must be players in the 20 - 25 age range that can do the jobs we need and that we can develop further, that we can afford otherwise we have nothing to look forward to or aspire to ........ and that leads to the death of a club because it's lifeblood, the supporters, lose interest and heart.
I accepted bad Windows the last few years because of the takeover now is the time for action. No excuses ..... push on.

I suspect, come 31 August, I will again be underwhelmed and again uninspired and regretting renewing my Season Ticket following all the hype about "Getting business down early" and "Signing four or five top quality players"
Club transfer of ownership was the excuse last summer - one wonders what it will be this year.

First pre season friendly on Wednesday coming so I'm not going to panic just yet. Bit embarassing with so many with their knickers in a twist this early on at the paper talk. Everton have been busiest so far but everyone else has made just the one or two signings bar a few that have three. Palace haven't signed one at all yet, and with De Boer in charge I'm sticking some money on them to go down.
Recently all of our big signings have come in August and completely under the radar with next to no paper talk and can't see there being any change there to be honest - as I mentioned before there's very little incentive to move early in the window unless you're the likes of Lukaku (£75m so his agent would have been keen to get that over the line quickly!) and Rooney (reportedly £150k wages a week at Everton, madness for a player on the decline those wages!)

Sir Megson, I agree with your comments, it's early doors, I am not panicking, I hate being connected with all these has been, it sends out the wrong message to young exciting talent that they won't get game time. I always support the board, the manager, the squad, MY club but every window I am underwhelmed, we make some good signings we are linked to great signings only to see them whipped away under our noses by like sized clubs. I want to grow, to challenge, 50 years of hurt come FA cup final day next May. Is it to much to ask for a little progression towards the top six / seven.
I am Albion, I will always be Albion, I am Albion til I die ......... but not of boredom ..... please.

I thought Wilson did okay at the end of season, and don't mind him as a squad player.
Although, we really could do with a couple of young, decent signings. Just to inspire us a little.
I guess the £12m signing of Rodriguez should've done that - but given his injury record, he's inspired very few. It's like we're just waiting for the next long term injury. Given how frugal we are, I'm gobsmacked such money has been sanctioned for someone with such a shocking injury record.
I only hope this is a sign of things to come and the purse strings will be a bit loser. But as a pessimist, I've got a feeling it was just a thoughtless signing. Let's see.

I feel very sorry for Marc Wilson. he did little wrong at the end of last season. In fact he was one of our better performaning players.
He has an opportunity to be part of the squad and do what a professional footballer is asked to do. Put a shift in.
If we had bought two or three other players by now people would be more warm in welcoming him to the club. Instead, if he is announced next his scrapbook will be full of negative articles and comments of derrision - none of which he deserves.

....are Burnley trying to compete with us in the Grandpa League?
"Burnley want to sign Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan, 33, for £2.5m after completing a deal for former Potters team-mate Jon Walters."
