WBA Transfer Window - Final Day
(02-07-2017, 20:29)WBA-Josh Wrote: Now our summer begins.

Hopefully by the end of the week we will have Iborra and Ranocchia also signed. Then hopefully a left back and another striker to follow in the next few weeks.

Hope Ranocchia comes on board as well
However I believe reading elsewhere although not reported he is not a target (hope i'm wrong)
Also Sam Is it Johnstone the keeper that was on loan at Villa ? those rumours are also way off the mark ...
Apparently Thumb up
Big noises on .com not sure we would see a player like him at the Shrine however is ....

Holger Badstuber linked, free agent after being released by Bayern, 6"3 German international who can play centre back or left back and at 28 sounds a good shout.

Link has also appeared in the last hour also so could be some yards in it ?

It's possibly something in the press but you have the question why they'd have the exact transfer fee since we've not disclosed it.

I reckon Rodriguez is as much as a gamble as Matty Phillips was; hopefully Jay enjoys a similar start to his Albion career and also minimal time on the treatment table. We've certainly got the sports science at the club now to help bring him back to 100% fitness of a few years ago.

Honestly don't remember Matt Phillips having any major injuries before signing for us and played over 40 times for QPR the season before we signed him. Rodriguez has had two major injures at Southampton and missed entire seasons of football. He's started 12 times in the last 3 years.

Hopefully he comes good, but if we sell Rondon and have just Rodriguez and HRK, i'll be very worried as Rondon never seems to get injured.

The keeper links interest me. Foster is huge for West Brom and unless injured would be first choice keeper all day long.

So the reserve keeper role is for someone prepared to sit out most of the season on the bench. As a reward they get to be the first choice keeper for cup runs. Not much appeal there if at West Brom as we seem to screw them up in the first rounds ?

So why has Myhill stuck it out for so long and why would Al Habsi or a keeper of his standing want to join, it's a job for a promising young keeper surely?

Phillips had a nasty leg fracture in his first season at QPR but obviously not as serious as doing his cruciate as Rodriguez did, just have a feeling he'll find his form and fitness again as he had more competition for his place in the team at Southampton than he will have here.

Agree with hanging onto Rondon but if there was any mileage in the rumour about £30m from China for him, I'd take that money and go shopping for a replacement.

Just seen this on SSN, can't make any sense of it to be honest. Buy a player from Vitesse Arnhem then loan him out for 2 years to Werder Bremen Huh Huh

PR value in China.
I'm interested that Garlick says we have an excellent relationship with Bremen. Any players in the pipeline?

Don't get me wrong, I liked him back in 2014 pre injury. But it's one hell of a fee for a player who has been on the treatment table for 80% of the last 3 years.

Just hope our staff and medical team really know what they are doing and he can stay fit.

Glad there's a done deal though as I was getting worried we were planning to just make up the numbers. The other links are very positive and just crossing everything that Rodriguez can put his injuries behind him.

I do agree Slick, but fees have got crazier and crazier over the past few years, I guess the clubs also have to have brexit at the back of their minds as well and their oversea's player limits. I suppose a good comparison starting point could be what we got for Berahino.
