WBA Transfer Window - Final Day
The press seem to be suggesting we are in pole position for James MCCarthy.

Albion history suggests that this is almost certainly going to die.

But given the current speculations what are your thoughts on him?

Just worried about the injuries. He'd be difficult to shift on to Sunderland later after they've had Anichebe (who I see they've released).

West Brom and Newcastle are both keen on Celtic's 26-year-old Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths. (Daily Mirror)

Leigh Griffiths was made to look good (and only just) by some crap goalkeeping. Joe Hart should be really worried as he has lost it since going out to European pastures!

I accept that Griffiths is likely to score as many goals as Rondon did last season but that is not a step forward, it's just a cheap extra player.

He could replace HRK maybe but he can't be our primary sriking option..................can he?

I actually think HRK is better than Rondon. Rondon is a bit like Big Vic, he relies on his strength to outmuscle defenders and scores from close in. HRK has great movement and Ghosts in between defenders as was his goal against Man City. Cool calm finish. He's also got more tricks and has a powerful long range shot on him. He deserved more playing time last season. I wouldn't be in a rush to bin him off. Sell Rondon for ridiculous money and keep HRK and possibly get another couple of strikers in.

I'll await the pelters and I have got my hard hat ready. Be gentle. Confused

I can't really argue with that to be honest although 6 months ago I would have ripped into you (in a nice way of course).

It's a bit like my stance on Prime Minister.

Once upon a time I would have laughed out loud at the thought of Boris being PM - but after that ludicrous performance by Theresa May I am now more than happy to have Boris take the helm!!!!

How about Boris up front and HRK in Downing Street? Just as likely to succeed, imho.

I would actually take Leigh Griffiths. He would be far better at taking chances than Salamon Rondon is.

How's that CB search going, Tony?

GMac's replacement was later substituted! Whether tactical or injury related, I know not.
How about Chris Smalling from Manchester United? Stairs has mentioned this on Page 1 of this thread. United are about to sign Benfica CB Victor Lindelof according to BBC Sport's Gossip column.

Smalling never sounds much cop for England. But I suppose you could argue that the Albion are a level below England anyway, some of the time at least.
