Transfer Window Definition:
There are two transfer windows in each Barclays Premier League season.
·     The first starts at midnight on last day of the closing season and ends 31 August if a working day - or, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.
·     The second starts at midnight on the 31 December and ends 31 January if a working day, and again, if not, on the first working day thereafter, at a time determined by the Board.

Loans (Temporary Transfers):
·     Only 2 season long loans are possible from other domestic leagues (and only 1 from any given club).
·     But they can have limitless International loans
·     In the
Premier League, players on loan are not permitted to play against the team which holds their registration (section 7.2 of rule M.6).
·     Loanees are, however, allowed to play against their 'owning' clubs in cup competitions, unless they have played for their owning club in that cup during that season.
·     Temporary transfers can be made permanent outside of the transfer windows

Home Grown Player: A player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or The Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of 3 seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21) and for the purposes of this definition of “Home Grown Player” a season will be deemed to commence on the date on which the first transfer window closes and expire on the date of the final league match of the season

OK - As there is already speculation I decided to start this earlier than usual. I have added the few obvious links I have spotted today and will update the player contract expiry dates - Olson, Jacob, McAuley and Fletcher are all summer risks unless they have extended contracts and I have missed it.
Feel free to remind me of anything missing or incorrect - I only add them if there is a newspaper or website link (even if they are 'fake news').

Thanks, Stairs. This is always a really useful thread (although it's also always really frustrating by the end of the window!).

Just a question
I thought the window opened the first of July,
I know people are out of contract in June but i didn't think we could officially announce signings until the 1st July ?

Like every year the summer window officially opens on July 1 (my bad and corrected), but players, agents and clubs will be discussing contract terms and final fees long before then.

Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain (Arsenal) they say we are favourites to take him this summer!

If he did he'd have to improve on his defending skills Laugh
