POLL

What do you all reckon, Olsson or Rondon's goal ?

For my tuppence worth, I'd give it to De-Do-Rondon as a confidence booster.

It was going in so Ollson. But a strikers instinct is to get goals and it's great to see Rondon being there to get it over the line. Add to that his work rate was apparently enormous. So it's always the strikers goal for me.

Rondons goal for me, he does not get many chances, his confidence must be in tatters but he is still trying and still getting in the right places, we have not scored many goals but he still has a fifth of our total. He has scored a couple recently so let's hope his mojo is on the up ........ come on you Baggies.

Bit harsh on Jonas though has he has had a hard time and a bit of stick recently, can they both have it and call it two nil.

Yes I think I can Its called lady luck and she shone like the star of david on us yesterday. The game quite frankly was almost as frightening as when i used to watch the saturday night horror films as a boy. In fact anyone who actually went to see this game live deserves an endurance medal. You know i'm not a Pulis hater but he clearly set this up with a "listen lads lets not get beat today, werk 'ard, defend with your lives, throw yerselves in front of every shot. defend deeper than the deep blue sea and beg the good lord for a set piece that somehow will find the back of their net then lets get the hell out of dodge with 3 dirty stolen points in the kit bag.
And by god that exactly what we did :-)

I watched the hours highlights on SSN match choice and whilst it was a real pleasure to finish one of my evil late work shifts and look forward to the 1 am showing it really did look like a lower division team pulling off a giant cup killing and Everton are good but they're not that good they are only 3 points ahead of us after all but we made them look like Barcelona. Oh and did Foster find a couple of 4 leaf clovers by his goal post Undecided

To be fair SSN said we gave a defensive masterclass and bigged it up maybe more than it really deserved. I'd have said at times desperate defending. But thats not to criticise because we got the job done and the organisation at the back was clearly very well drilled.

So a few performance notes
Chester showed he's not up to it at all. Lennon made him look like a clown and put him on his arse. His decision making on the byline incident was criminal but to be fair he is out of position.
Ollsson now a lot of you moan about him and i agree he's a bit basic but that was what was needed many times yesterday he headed and kicked everything away from danger and the dubious goals panel may yet award him our goal? He certainly made the assist.
Yacob got a mention from the SSN reporter about putting a great shift in which he did
Brunty, welcome back it would have been nice if he'd put that chance away but he looks sharp and hungry
Foster some good, some outstanding, and one or two scary moments.
McClean again not liked on here by many but always working, always committed, never goes missing but, like Chester, Lennon made him look silly.
Sess, when he dropped his shoulder and wriggled past two tacklers he looks world class, one of our most skilful attacking midfielders, love to see him score a lot more than he does
Fletcher, hes a good captain and a leader plays with heart and soul and his head.
Forwards Berahino Ron and Vic largely ineffective in a game dominated by having to defend.

Still that's the way it goes and someone on here did say we'd win based on the fact it looked like the odds were so stacked against us well done for that brave prediction lol!

Were 8 points away from the magic 40 13 games to go 2 wins and two draws would see that happen I believe we are more than capable of that and I believe we will get the points from unexpected games like yesterday then lose to the likes of Norwich again :-(
I also believe there are two places left in the bottom three Villa are gone and as I've said before my dad and brother are Villa so I don't hate them as others do but I do think they're gone for sure. whilst were not out the woods yet are form is similar over the last 10 games to any team from 8th to 19th place with 3/4 wins amongst those games However I think those two places will be filled by either norwich swansea or bournemouth. Although there is one team who have gone into a serious decline? look at Palace stats won 1 lost 6 drawn 3 not won for 9 games Hmmm! outsiders for the drop anyone?

We thought we were wasteful, 34 shots only 6 on target ........ if you don't concede you always have a chance.

Val, palace are next up for us in the league, how good would a result in that one be for us ......

Taking a rough scan over the remaining fixtures for Norwich, toon and black cats, no guarantees but Norwich five winnable games, toon seven and black cats four however each of them are playing each other. So maybe four more points may be enough for us ....... but let's not rest on our laurels ..... more attacking line ups and just maybe some wins by more than one goal ...... We have only lost two more games than we have one but we are on minus eight .......

Lol almost guaranteed to lose that then. You know how we like lose to teams in the mire. There is one hope however and that will be the Pulis returns to old club and nicks it phenomenon  Rolleyes

Thanks for the replies to my question, chaps! I was stunned and over the moon when I saw the result, and I think I know exactly how Everton must have been feeling after that one. Valpayne, I actually read somewhere, it could have been the BBC Sports website, that James Chester played well, along with Jonas Olsson and Claudio Yacob. To be fair to the lad, I think Aaron Lennon can put a lot of players on their arses. What a turn-up for the books, and, as you say, 8 points from 13 games seems easy. Villa losing 2-0 at home to Liverpool as I write this, which is good for us, and it's oh dear, how sad, what a pity, never mind, as Sarn't Major Williams used to say in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum.
Come on, you Baggies!
EDIT: It's now Aston Villa 0 Liverpool 3.
