Robson in the rain: Goodison Park, September 1981

Onwards and upwards.  Well, onwards, at least.  After the twin joys of losing to a Newcastle team who looked like they'd been dragged straight out of a Jarrow boozer and scraping past a makeshift League One side after two hundred and ten minutes of football and some dodgy penalties, our reward is yet another road trip - the third of four in a row - to Everton, who happen to have won their last three matches 3-0.

For those who do not wish to know the result, look away now.

I'm not expecting much from this; only hoping that any defeat will at least come cushioned by an attempt to play better football than we have been for the last month.  It wasn't particularly edifying to see Foster and Olsson exchanging words on the pitch on Wednesday night, and my real fear is that there's a rot setting in which runs deep through the dressing room.  Having a decent go at Everton would, you'd hope, at least be a boost to the team's confidence.  They might end up needing it, and more besides.

Looking the fixture list, our form, our injuries and style of play right now, I cannot see where we are going to get any points from let alone those needed for safety.

That said, stranger things have happened and maybe Pulis will become an Albion Legend !

Laugh

We won't even turn up, which is all Everton have to do.

Even with 9 players behind the ball we still let goals in.
Remember in the championship (was it TM) all we had to do was score 1 more than the opposition?
But i cant see were any goals are coming from let alone 1 more than them.

So true!

Pulis is incapable of anything other than type. So we will be setting up to not concede, then concede after 2 minutes.....

Other things we can predict:

Olly will head/play/hoof aimless balls forward/upwards to no one inparticular.
Rondon will run around areas of the pitch that no one else occupies.
Rondon will be unable to control the one single ball that manages to make it's way to him.
Saido will look a few pounds lighter after 120mins exercise on Wednesday.
McClean will be 'pumped' up and will try to break as many Everton legs as possible without getting a red.
As above but with a red.
Gardner will don his 'Wallace and Grommet' grimmace and sucessfully pass the ball to another Baggie 15% of the time.
Ben will kick at least half of his clearances straight into touch.
Chester will struggle playing at LB/RB or any other position that he is not suited to.
Pocognoli will not only be late getting ready but will be late with 50% of his tackles.
Pulis will be wearing a black trackie with white stripes.

Thumb up

Morning All,
Lets try and stay positive(If anyone has any positvity left).
We do not know what sort of side we are able to put out yet to be honest, and at least the Toffees have some of their better players out , as I see Stones will not play, and there are doubts about several others, so it may not be the worst time to face an admitedly in form Everton. They are thinking of debuting their new striker, so lets hope he has left his striking boots on the plane and keeps getting in Lukakus way!
You never know, a completely boring nil nil, would you take it?
Cheers,
Kookiebags.
