At least you'll be spared the sight of England falling at the final hurdle yet again - and Scotland failing to qualify yet again!

It's a shame but its the right thing to do, Plus given another 12 months maybe we will have some forwards fit again.

The big question is...Will UEFA give refunds for tickets purchased or will they keep the money for 12 months.

This a eye watering amount of cash, based on what I've spent on the cheapest tickets for 5 Wembley games that would be a minimum of £30million to repay for one venue and that is the very rock bottom

UEFA have announced that subject to advice the Euro play off games due to be played this month will now be played on the International dates set aside in June.
Just for reference England's international dates were the 2nd and 7th June, I mention this because if that is the case and Leagues around Europe resume then players will have to be released for International Duty

To reform the Pools Panel.
It will probably mean Town get relegated though. Them twats always had us losing. I was always shouting "rubbish" at the telly at 5 o'clock on a winter's Saturday teatime. Big Grin

What make's you think it ever went away Snoots?

The football might have stopped, but that doesn't stop Classic Pools!
Of course the football has stopped because of CoronaVirus but despite the fixtures being called off Classic Pools is still continuing!

Tonight’s draw closes at 19:40 and includes the cancelled mid-week Championship matches and the Champions League games and the Pools panel have been resulting on all of the matches so we can continue to bring you more Classic Pools coupons.

So make sure you complete your coupon before 19:40 for your fill of football action!

Spanish media are reporting UEFA will announce tomorrow that we go with current standings if the leagues can't be continued.

I don't think you can, take the Premier League for instance. Aston Villa have 1 game in hand and should they win that they would no longer be in the bottom 3

In League 1 Wycombe have a game in hand that should they draw would see them make the Play Offs

The only sensible options are
1) Complete the season, this would depend on when they can get back playing

or

2) Abandon the season, null and void and everyone starts afresh next August(if we are back playing by then)

Yes Clubs like WBA and Leeds would feel hard done by, this is something nobody has ever seen before. Lives are at risk and the most important thing is the health and well being of everybody...not the money that will be lost by failure to play a season out.

You cannot abandon the season with 80% of the games being played. Thats insane.

The associations are going to have to compensate the clubs affected, because if we don't get back playing in may we go with the current positions.

You think to abandon the season is insane but to go with the current positions is a complete minefield of problems

The Championship for example
Leeds top of the pile with 71points, within 27points of them are Birmingham City in 16th
Likewise Barnsley bottom with 34points, within reach of 27points are Brentford in 4th with 60points

Certain teams will have had to play each other twice whilst others only once and thus creating an unfair playing field.
So many points to play for, it either has to be played to the end which in turn will have timescales for it to be completed or abandoned. They are the only 2 fair ways to settle this.

Yeah and abandoning the season would be ever worse. Trophies have been won, they will become void, fans will want their season book money back, sponsors and TV deaks will be fucked. Voiding the league now when there's no guarantee we'll even be ready to go by July/August anyway is completely nonsensical for that reason alone. Let alone the legal, TV, financial, sporting implications that go with it.

Clubs will go to the wall in Scotland if its not resolved soon. They will call it as the league stands as the rules allow them to, if necessary using averages across the season and compensate clubs that have lost out.

Its not ideal but no solution is going to suit everyone.

Looks like the current appetite is to finish the Leagues this season, whenever they can restart again, whether it's the Summer or later. That appetite might change if it drags on to October.

Cups might be a different matter, especially National Cups that don't result in European places.

Main issue then is sorting out contracts that normally end in June or after the predicted end of the Euro 2020 competition for some managers as examples.

With the next World Cup being in our Winter, there's no great rush to start the new season (or rather the one after) in August and then have a 4-6 week break either.
