I think we put out a strong team, but there's a gap there between youth sides and senior level that shouldn't be underestimated. The squad's been punching above its weight recently though so I'm not too surprised or bothered about that result. Main thing is we're on the right track.

I was a bit disappointed to see our 'junior' side lose 1-0 in their last group game to AS Roma-USA with the Americans scoring a late winner. We go on to compete for the second tier trophy, the Globe. Only a win would have seen us make the top tier as it happened, with Southampton the only team in the section to win all 3 of their matches. They're still getting it all right at youth level.

We play Australian side Sydney United in the semi final, and if we win could get some revenge over Roma-USA who play County Down in the other.

A 2-0 win against Sydney in a tough game this afternoon puts us in tomorrow's Globe final. No rematch with AS Roma-USA though as they lost by the same score to County Down.

And a 1-0 win in the Globe final to take that trophy. Not a bad week for the youths.

As for what I said about Southampton...oh dear...

I notice Paul Mathers is the new goalkeeping coach at youth level for us. Another piece in the backroom jigsaw ...

Not sure if it's down to the keeper so much but it'd be nice to do something to shore up that leaky defence in the development squad. We beat St, Mirren 4-3 yesterday but that's 5 goals shipped in 2 games.
