Like many other players, we should never have released Roofe especially on free.

I appreciate what you are saying, but is Roofe any better than what we have had over the last couple of seasons?  Maybe the club let him go because the champlonship is his level and no higher? Who would you rather have in the team atm Roofe or J-rod, Gayle or Barnes? I accept that Gayle & Barnes are loanees, but if we got back to the greed league, again who would you have in the team? Onwards & upwards.

I think it made sense to let him go at the time. We were an established mid table Premier League side and he was nowhere near the squad. The club made the decision that he was never going to be a Premier League player, so there was no point keeping him just to play for the reserves.

He wasn't released on a free, he was sold to Oxford in League 2, which was his level at the time. We also had a decent sell on clause and made well over £1m when Oxford sold him to Leeds.

Of course, in the subsequent years, our mismanagement along with his improvement means he would probably be in and around our squad now at his current level. However, it was impossible 3 years ago to predict our demise. I also doubt he would be anywhere near the level he is now had he just been playing for our reserves for the last 3 years. The reason he has improved is because he's been playing league football.

So here it is.  Merry Christmas!

Fairytale of New York Stadium - brilliant!
When’s your next book out?

The only other header I can remember him scoring was from a yard out in the 4-0 win against Burnley at The Hawthorns in the early days of Alan Irvine’s reign.

I recall at the time we were ok for strikers, but it’s great to see he’s developed since leaving us.

Unchanged team again.

It’s good to see a settled team but I’d like to have seen some rotation given the 3 matches in 7 days (4 matches in 11 days altogether) Xmas routine starts today.

Norwich got a point from 3-0 down, equaliser coming in the 98th min.
Looked like being a really good day until the late goals for Leeds & Norwich.
Just got to keep winning though. On to Sheff Wed

Lady luck is against us ...... Leeds losing 2 - 1 in stoppage time, Roofe score twice win 3 - 2, Norwich losing 3 -1 in 94th minute, score twice, the last in the 98th minute, draw 3 - 3 .......

Gap closed on second to three points, still Sid behind Leeds, unbeaten run now eight, Sid wins, two draws, back to back clean sheets ....... 22 games to go .... COYB.
