It's that special time of year again, and for those of us who spent our childhoods wondering where Amaynja was, and why no one ever played away there anymore, football remains an integral part of the festivities. Having ding-donged merrily on Sky last Friday to secure a welcome three gifts at Bramall Lane, we'll be looking for a Fairytale of New York Stadium this Saturday to give us a myrrh-vellous Christmas (and, of course, hoping that Bristol City will do us a golden turn against Lampard's Derby to really leave Frank incensed). Rumours that King J-Rod plans to kill all the newborns this Christmas can safely be dismissed as Vile heresy; however, if he fancies a massacre, he'll have the chance to deliver a deep and crisp and even performance against Wigan on Boxing Day. Before the Nuhiu year, Sheffield Wednesday will be journeying to Bromlehem (where there's always plenty of room at the inns) for a rare Saturday 3pm kick-off; then it's a trip over Field and fountain, Moore and mountain to Ewood Park for a chance of seeing three goals come sailing in on New Year's Day in the morning. (Or, more accurately, afternoon).
So here it is. Merry Christmas!
