Matt my old friend, Jack's interview sounds great and I'm sure he has vision, that's why I wanted him throughout, but Carson exemplified exactly what I'm talking about. It is no use giving someone a three year deal if you are saying, if we go down it could be all over. That is the opposite of vision. That's an eight month deal! That's a cup of sick to swallow after the main course!
Jack might get this random bunch of players doing brilliantly. I do hope so, but if it takes him weeks or months to kickstart us, then that is it. We have to support him and trust him ALL THE WAY. We've given the division ten games start. There are goings-on in the background about which I know nowt for which we might even face a points deduction.
Unless Jack's a complete genius we are going to lose quite often and football fans are very fickle. They discard heroes like dust and Danny Wilson is an example. And we have no idea how much financial support Jack will really get. Danny got next to none. Nor do we really know our owner's motives though he says that, like us, he's delighted with the appointment. You have to remember the one team below us have got an owner who, if it is possible, will definitely invest to save them going back down.
I'd like to see the team come out as excited and motivated by this appointment as the fans ........ but they will only really understand when they hear the crowd, they're not fans.
I'm hoping that the one spark of form where we came out & thrashed Donny in the friendly shows there is something the right man can do. If we can beat Cheltenham I'll be as thrilled as anyone, but if the worst happens I'm not going to blame Jack Lester. I'm might argue with things he does, but I'm not going to blame him all season and beyond. I think he's a hero for coming, he's gone up massively in my estimation. (But that doesn't stop me from saying Tommy Wright worries me; nothing against his ability but there are buts.)
