Rangers should have had this coherent approach to playing and the advancement of youth from 2012 onwards.

This took some digging in my records to find, a post from 2013 :

Rangers: the way forward - in full

Having read the document, I see nothing wrong in it. Folks on here and on RM who see the games have often complained about the style and standard of play, things which occur with any football club.
Having a Director of Football to oversee the costs of players and ensure the players budget is adhered to, especially by telling agents to GTF, looks a sensible option. This is provided the DoF does not interfere with team management, which would undermine the Manager's authority.
However, if there is a consistent approach throughout the Club to playing the game, then such interference should not occur - all singing from the same hymn-sheet.
It is a pity this document, from March 14th 2013, was not published by the Club itself, for the Fans to consider and debate.
If a journalist has an 'agenda' and skews his 'report' to suit his spin, see through that. What really matters is the business plan.
There is no point in just drifting along, all Clubs need a plan and this looks a very good one.

Well, Murdoch, Crawford and Gallacher all included on the RFC Youth trip to N.I. today.

Interesting that we're actively looking for senior teams to play against, rather than opposition of similar age groups.

Murdoch and Crawford are hardly strangers to senior sides though.

They'll be there as the old heads.

I hope that's the reason. It would be disappointing if Murdoch is going to be pushed back out of the side when he came on so well last season.

A good start as we secured a 1-0 win over Sheffield United in our opening match at the Milk Cup (Junior section). Next up we play Co. Fermanagh before facing AS Roma-USA. As usual total points from these games relative to everyone else playing in the section will then decide what trophy we play for.

Rudden wasn't giving that ball to anyone, was he? Scored a hat-trick today as we best Fermanagh 4-1. If we can beat the Americans tomorrow we should be very well placed in the leaderboard.

I see the under 20s were brought back down to Earth with a bump, losing 5-2 to Annan's first team. That should serve as a reminder that things aren't always going to go right for us in the coming months.

Could have just been a bit of tinkering with the side. As long as we take positives from it.
