That was a good win in the end. First half performance alone deserved the three points but we didn't kill the game, they came back at us in the second half but we hung in there and a nice finish from Joao secured the points!!! I will definitely take that!!!!

As regards Hutchinson, its frustrating that he gets these yellows, that's 6 in 9 games now. but like CC said this week, if you take that out of his game we will lose a lot of his effectiveness. I love Semedo but Hutch is a better passer and does a better job of covering for the CHs when they stray, so for me he stays in. Nuhiu by all accounts did well in the first half, I would also start with him, but Joao showed today why he should come on for the last 30 mins. I thought both of Helan's bookings were a bit soft and in another game neither would see a card come out. But I still think while he is versatile his best position is still midfield rather than defence, not that CC could do much about that today.

Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.

Think Joao is going to be a star in the future, cool head and a great finish for a youngster, and kept his cool with the afters too ..

BML Update

Good day for Wednesday, and an even better one for Owlkev who got the score and scorer correct and won for the % possession!!! No winners in the results predictions. Owlkev now leads the BML with 4 Smartass!!!

I was more impressed the way he kept his cool with the goalkeeper than his finish.  Would have been very easy for him to have retaliated there and he would have been the one with the red card.  Still it was a cool finish and totally made by his pace to leave the defender for dead, so he knew no one was going to be challenging him!!

Anyone noticed that the bottom three is currently the three promoted teams from League one?? The money being spent in the Championship now will probably take it another notch above the pub league and make it difficult for the promoted teams to keep up!!

Does Rhodes play the CF role on his own at Blackburn ?. If he does he is the man we need, if not than hard to know how he would play in our system. Also he would be a good player for Joao to learn from. Joao is already a better finisher than Nuhiu.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, you need a team....

It was interesting to see Bus on the bench today after being nowhere near the squad for most of the season. Perhaps he impressed CC at Newcastle and could possibly have got more game time today if we hadn't been forced to make two of the subs we did.
and complicated

I think Rhodes can play either on his own or with a partner.  He has enough pace to cause problems and can play with his back towards goal or running onto through balls.  I think he is exactly what we need, but at the reported 14m its a huge amount of money!!!

He is still 3rd choice striker, so he won't get many chances from the bench.

Sat watching Newcastle v Chelsea, we have been mentioned at least half a dozen times by the commentators after our win there. Fun to watch Chelsea look toothless and predictable, only a matter of time before the Special One parts company with them!!

If Nuhiu had only the GK to beat as Joao did he would have missed it. Doh But then, it's hypothetical because Nuhiu wouldn't have been able to do that fast run up like Joao did. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by starting Joao and benching Nuhiu. Thumb up
