I thought our brave boys were absolutely magnificent today. Outplayed one of the biggest clubs in the world and only got beat by their one piece of world class football in the entire match.
Schindler again got man of the match. Could easily have been Hogg though. Or Billing. Or Durm. Or Lowe. Any of them. Superb team performance. And included in that team, the twelvth man.. The crowd.
What an atmosphere!
Don't cha wish your Kop could make a noise like that?
As usual though, the marginal decisions went against us. The Milner hand ball was a 100% penalty. Pritchard offside by an elbow, but did it come off a Liverpool head last?
Anyway, our biggest fan from outside the club, Jurgen Klopp, appreciated the support for our team. Applauded our fans as he was walking off. And got it back from us.
This is not a relegation team.

The non penalty. Milner moves his arm and leg to block the ball. The ball hits his thigh marginally before his arm but the arm successfully blocks the ball. Just because it's hit his leg first doesn't mean that the intention wasn't there. It was definitely a pen.

And Pritchard is definitely onside. Dick Van's heel is playing him on. Elbows don't count.

Fine, fine margins...
Handball? I've seen them given, but not for me. Offside? Very close, but he was just offside for me. The fact is though, other teams would get one of those decisions but at the minute we don't. Hogg's shot could go the other side of the post, but it doesn't. We need some luck and we need it quick, just to get us started.
The performance was amazing, it was probably my hangover but I got emotional towards the end. The atmosphere was unreal, those last 15 minutes it was like everyone in the stadium knew we could get something from the game, including both sets of players. We have got to go to Watford with confidence after that.
Performances:
Disagree on Schindler, he's been good this season but below his own high standards, at fault for their goal allowing Salah way too much room.
Mooy looks to be back to his best, which unsurprisingly has seen our upturn in form, when he isn't at it we don't win games.
Durm looks to be superb, if he stays fit I think he'll be our POTY.
Special mention to Lowe who looked to be well out of favour with new signings but has been superb recently.

Overall I thought we were excellent. The best team by a long way on Saturday.
That is how we should play against all the top 6 apart from maybe Man City. We can match almost anyone on our day.
That pass from Gomez into Xhaquiri(?) and then onto Salah was the only telling bit of class in the game. Other than that they were pretty woeful.
Thought Schindler was at fault for not getting closer....Loessl's positioning could have been slightly better.
Lowe, Billing and Durm were standouts for me.....as was LDP.
I'm sure i'll get stick for this, but maybe I see things differently watching from TV rather than being there, but I'm not so sure about Hogg.
I've heard all the "warrior, Gladiator, always steps up" comments. But I just find that he can't pass a ball. Loses it far too often, then has to track back and either tackle or foul the guy to make up for his mistake. He has no pace, rarely is a goal threat, and fouls too often.
Maybe I'm being too harsh on the lad......we were bloody brilliant on Saturday to a man.
Watford away next week is becoming a must win game. We are starting to get slightly detached from the 4th bottom team now. Need a win to build confidence also.

Yes, far too harsh on Hogg, Shep. He's the ball winner. Sometimes he does give it away but how many times does he force the opposition into mistakes? There was a stat on Saturday that Liverpool made their most misplaced passes. That's down to Hoggy imo.

Wasn't Hogg told last season it isn't his job to be a goal threat?

The thing with Hogg is, he sets the tempo for how we play. On Saturday night he never stopped, harassed them all night, and everyone else follows his lead. We need him doing that in the middle of the park, but also need to accept he's not Mooy on the ball. I actually thought he did well overall on the ball, but got stuck in his own feet a couple of times when we tried to play triangles out from the back, but I've seen KDB lose the ball when being pressed by Liverpool so won't be too harsh on him!
