It was never going to last, they have a mid-table squad at best and I stick by my early season prediction of a mid-table finish.
I think they could be stuck in that league for a while with the parachute payments for the relegated PL clubs and the fact that only three of Deby, Bournemouth, Forest, Boro, Watford, Ipswich and Blackburn can go up. ![]()

I watched their match, men against babbies for ninety minutes. They don't have a forward capable of holding the ball in the opposition half, and if you take Sako out of their side (which could happen very soon, as his contract's up in May and they may need to cash in while they can) the attacking threat in general is non-existent. If they paid a million quid for that George Saville then they really haven't learnt their lesson from the days of Premier League overspending. They need at least one new CB and maybe even another, because Batth and Ebanks-Landell aren't even top-level Championship defenders let alone Premier League standard.
They'll still grind out wins against the poorer sides in the division, but today exposed what happens when they come up against quality: they end up defending around their own six-yard box all day long. We've had our ups and downs with Derby this pre-season over the George Thorne affair but, how nice to see them thrashing the Dingles 5-0 !

Ideye out ?
Rumours are floating around that our most expensive signing to date may be shown his P45 without even touching a ball in a Premiership game. JP must be spitting blood given the amount he paid out for a player obviously not fancied by Irvine. Record signing ? More like record mistake !

Ideye has played for us in the league, was on against Southampton and Swansea without a doubt. I don't see why we'd get rid of him unless someone's prepared to match our £10m in January; we even hung onto the toxic asset of Odemwingie until Cardiff coughed up the same amount we'd paid for him in 2010! Just not how JP operates.
