I think it could work.  Still a bit of risk, but the lowest people could score is -4 and that would require them to play their Gamball AND get every prediction wrong, so it'll be very rare that anyone actually gets a minus, thus making it the league's more competitive.

I've been trying to think of a way to replace the insurance ball, don't think we can really though.

No need to have one if you can't score below zero for getting one wrong,
Plus it helps you from being utterly useless

Hopefully we will depends on commitment from players , scorer's , holidays may become a problem but we did one before,
Maybe trial the new scoring system
Will need a sign up page so we can see how many groups of four we can have like the real thing !

Free to use on any one game you think there will be a red card in ?
Get it right and you score the same as a correct result 2 points just as a bonus to replace the insurance ?

Just a quick example folks from this weeks scores to show how much they would have differed if the proposed changes had come into effect

   

   

It does show what a difference a correct score Gamball makes at the moment, a perfect example is DD and St C. DD got 5 CR and 2 CS inc the Gamball while St C got 5 CR and 3 CS but lost the Gamball. DD scored 7 points more originally, but with the proposed new scoring they would have scored equal points. St C rewarded for getting more CS than DD in the week, but DD rewarded for getting the Gamball right

It also shows that it would close the scoring up across the league, 18 points between best & worst as opposed to 27 before in the Prem and 26 against 36 in the Champ.

Can always add more columns to try and replicate any other scoring ideas that come up so they can be compared

The tables tell a tale their
The top has tightens up along with the bottom
The middle table players haven't changed much if any
IMO that's shows it works to a degree,
As a average scoring week even with the new system remains just that

That's the sort of thing I was thinking of, but personally, I don't like it. That might just be me though haha.

Just to throw in my tuppence worth I'd agree with the majority that the rewards and penalties of the Gamball are a little too extreme, Salop summed it up perfectly when he said 1 correct Gamball is worth 8 of the other games.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Bonus Ball being the biggest points scorer as it's an individually picked game  rather than the Gamball which is already selected for you. It puts more emphasis on choosing 1 of the 9 games to go for a big points reward

Not sure on red cards counting, we could use shirt numbers, time of 1st goal or last goal - 1-10, 11-20, 81-90 etc, total corners 0-3, 4-6. 7-9 etc, total goals scored, the one I like is both teams scoring which is a popular one on football betting. So even if you get the result wrong you could still score points as long as home & away teams both score.

All for the zero points for incorrect result, as 4eva said why lose a point - just don't score any

eg. Predict Albion to beat Newcastle 2-1 this week. Game finishes 1-1, no points for incorrect result but 2 points for picking it as the "score ball"
