I’m happy with that first half. Lacking quality in the final third and we tailed off as the half went off but we look better in possession, more patient and trying to actual play modern day football rather than Pardew’s give the ball to Phillips and Brunt to lump in the box.
I’ve been impressed by Brunt’s positioning. He’s not really got it to play as a centre midfielder but today he is playing as a Regista (Deep-lying playmaker. Think Andrea Pirlo) and has done well. Dropping in between Dawson and Hegazi who split into the half spaces to get on the ball and look to switch the play or play it short into midfield. This has made Livermore look better because he is playing a more natural box-to-box role and is getting forward to support Rondon and Rodriguez.
What I would do in the second half is I would switch Phillips and McLean around. Have them cutting inside onto the best foot and leave the wide areas for Nyom and Gibbs to exploit.

Well after a bright start...........
That was like watching paint dry.
Nearly scored in injury time but that was about the summary of the 1st half ...
Swansea had one chance and nearly scored but they are awful , i can't believe we are behind teams like this in the League, Just shows how poor we have been this season

We do look more up for it, but we're really lacking quality.
With the exception of Brunt, nobody is looking to create and too many people just looking for the safe ball. Way too many passengers who are just waiting for their summer holidays.
Nyom, who is only any good at marauding forward IMO has spent most of his time in line with the central defenders - we might as well get McAuley on and Dawson right back, at least we would carry threat from set play.
Rondon and Rodrgiuez have had some reasonable balls up to them, but would struggle to trap a bag of sand. Their wayward layoffs seem to be Swansea's best form of attack.
McClean seems content to just keep delivering crosses off the defenders shins. He might be a winger by name, but he couldn't beat an egg.
Phillips looks like he wants the ground to open up and eat him. He just wants to get rid of the ball. His defending for the Swansea chance was an absolute joke. Basic give and go by Clucas and Phillips just jogs off in another direction. Honestly, if you did that in my Sunday morning team you would get a roasting. I do think he's one of our better footballers, but I'm afraid his defensive awareness is far too poor for a 4-4-2.
From a positive point of view, Swansea look equally sh*te and missed an absolute sitter. Maybe we can win based on how inept the opposition are.

Corner 1: Abraham misses free header when being 'marked' by Livermore who fails to get off the ground.
Corner 2: Livermore continues to 'mark' Abraham, again fails to get off the ground. He's not going to miss another free header.
Seriously where is the leader in this team? Someone who see's what is going to happen and changes things? After the first corner, it's OBVIOUS that the bumbling oaf Livermore, who struggles to run, let alone jump, shouldn't continue to mark Abraham. Abraham dwafts him from a standing position and can leap too. Dawson, Hegazi, Nyom, Brunt and Rondon are all stronger in the air than Livermore. Fernandez is the only bloke who is a bigger threat in the air.
This team have lacked quality, tactics, leadership and bottle all season. This sh*tty game will probably grace the Championship next season and rightfully so. What a pair of dull, clueless sides.

I suppose we s/b celebrating a long-awaited point - but I'm not. We should have beaten a very poor Swansea.
No lack of effort though.
