Cyrille Regis takes the match ball with a hat-trick, Albion vs Swansea, 5th September 1981

Now the Pardew Circus has mercifully driven its last clown-car honking away into the wide blue-and-white yonder, there is at least a chance that Albion might be able to see out this season with some dignity. Big Dave is in an impossible position where survival is concerned, but this is no Terry Connor situation for the Albion hero, because most fans have already accepted the inevitable. The most that can be expected is a decent performance or two, and maybe to dodge our worst-ever Premier League points haul. Even if we don't get either of those things, no one will Blame It On Big Dave this time round, as he's been left with the mess of countless other people.

And so with little in the way of expectation, this Saturday is a pretty risk-free opportunity for the big man to set out his stall and see what, if anything, can be done with this side. Fill your (sizeable) boots, Darren.

I’d like to see the following team:

Foster
Dawson - Evans - Hegazi - Brunt
Yacob - Field
Burke - Krychowiak - Phillips
Rondon

Subs - Myhill, McAuley, Nyom, Gibbs, Livermore, McLean, Rodriguez

Whether we win or lose on Saturday, I expect to see effort and desire from the players who are picked. We are going down so I hope the players have some professional pride to try to finish the season in a good way.

As I said yesterday, a good finish to a shit season can run into the next season in a lower division. Just ask Hannover about that.

I like the look of that team Josh.

Although I'd put McAuley to replace Brunt on the bench, and field some of the untried players to see how they do after 60 minutes.
Nothing lost nothing gained.

I would rather have McLean or Rodriguez over Phillips - other than that I agree with your selection.

Interesting ...
At least we have 2 wingers on the pitch
But would have thought Gregg instead of Brunt in the middle would have been a better option ...
No Evans either ,...
Good Thumb up

Nyom? Rondon and Rodriguez duo again? No Krychowiak?

I wonder if Moore used the same hat to pick this XI that Pardew used every week?

How many times do we have to see Rondon and Rodriguez together before someone who actually picks the team actually realises that these 2 together do not work?

I sincerely hope I'm wrong... About time I am, I've been saying these 2 are too similar all season...

Phillips off the top with Burke on the wing would provide much better balance IMO. But hey, we only won 3-1 away at Liverpool in the cup in the one and one game when Phillips played off Rodriguez up top, so why bother playing these two together again? After all, Rogriguez and Rondon have formed a great relationship in the 20+ games they have played together where we have recorded a whopping 1 win Doh

Another gash team selection, just hope Moore can at least raise the players.

That 4-4-2 feeling again Confused

Since when did we ever have more possession than Swansea Laugh

Not doing much with it though Rolleyes

Livermore with the shot ....
Nearly hits the corner flag,
Decent start though Thumb up
