Hibs v Dumbarton, 18 March, KO 3.00pm
#11
Mortons record has been v impressive of late. They have lost one game this year and that was at ibrox in the cup. 2 draws v utd and falkirk.

Thats better form than we have produced since the turn of the year. We need to take them seriously.

Sounds like you were describing many Hibs performances I have witnessed of late 0762.

Notice you didn't mention Morton, just Falkirk and D.U. as real threats,,  who are also 7 points behind with a game in hand and who we have to play twice, and they are grinding out better results than us since the New Year.......now where are those big game players................

Hibs have played Morton twice newhavenhibby and the aggregate score is currently 5-1. I believe Hibs will increase that aggregate score and I base that view on two observations. The first is observing a couple of Morton's televised matches where I have concluded that Morton are a well organised 'stuffy' team but I'll be very surprised if they push Hibs for the title unless Hibs really do 'implode' and allow this level of average opposition to challenge them! Secondy, I observed and listened to Jim Duffy's pre-match interview on bbc Alba and at no point did Jim indicate that he had a great desire or ambition to win the Championship, let alone even attain second place with the players at his disposal, referring mainly to the inexperience of many of his players and basically becoming mentally accustomed to playing in the Championship and 'see where it takes them'! IMO they will lose quite a few matches before the season ends and hopefully the upcoming match at ER will be one of them. On the player front I'm more concerned that some of our better missing players, who will definitely make an impact in our league matches, don't return in the coming weeks and strengthen Lenny's squad! Thankfully Jason will return and Dylan looks like he's being primed to cover McGinn's impending absence although John Mac has been 'hit n miss' anyway! Also when is Humphrey coming back? I'd like to see Hanlon's return if poss and almost every available squad player back and pushing for a 1st team place! Then all will be well!! Thumb up

Also bear in mind morton were quite unlucky with their chances at ibrox and tannadice. They could easily have won those games.

Despite what might have been said or not players and staff at any level of football want to win the league they are in.

Duffy at present keeping their feet on the ground till the belief sinks in......good management in my book.

The main point I'm emphasising is the fact Hibs are a better side than Morton and watch how they line up against us to prove that point. I also have a lengthy list of fixtures (incl Tannadice) going back months where Hibs have also been exceptionally unlucky and could well have been sitting pretty at the top of the Championship by about 20 pts but we are where we are and Hibs still have their destiny in their own hands!!!! Lets hope Lenny manages the situ in the proper way and they finally push on regardless! Thumb up

Exactly - they have a winning mentality no doubt. Results since turn of the year show it.

Beat us and win their game in hand (albeit a local derby with a improving st mirren) they are 1 point behind and we've still to play them again at cappielow where they have not lost for over a year.

A lotta ifs Jim! I like to have 'points in the bag' and thankfully we're 'still in a good place' but understandable seeing a lotta Hibs fans getting a wee bit peeved off after our past misgivings when it comes to stuff like this. Duffy and his Morton team will inevitably play other sides that will be 'playing for something' and with decent form attached to them as well!! They are not anything close to being world beaters anyway after observing periods of tonight's match although forgive me for almost believing it after reading some of the comments!

Just seen the 66% Possession from Hibs and 18 shots on goal with 8 on target.
Now Dumbarton had 2 shots on target from 7.
AND SCORED TWICE!

Where is the GREEN Newhaven????? lol.
