Hibs v Dumbarton, 18 March, KO 3.00pm

This is the first of three consecutive home matches for Hibs and what an opportunity to target 9 pts during a period when the 'feel good factor' is high amongst players and fans! Thumb up
A minor blip is the loss of Jason who has been consistently scoring good goals for us - the concern is that Hibs other strikers like Keatings, Boyle, Graham and Holt don't 'step up to the plate' and bang in the requisite goals from the numerous opps that will be created in our build up play. Our defence and Efe's presence + Rocky's assured form have certainly raised my optimism for the future when 'closing the back door' was always a top priority for me.
Hibs have a welcome 7 day break and I think Lenny will stick to the same steady line up but with Jason probably replaced by James Keatings. No slip ups please and no complacency - lets consolidate our top position and do it in style!! Thumb up

I think we should take 4 or 5 off them but that never pans out. Quite frankly i'd be happy with any win. 3 points at this stage is really all that matters. Pressure then goes onto Falkirk and Morton playing the 5.15 KO. later.
Let's be honest Hibs are top of the table 6 points clear and playing Dumbarton at home. What could possibly go wrong?

Right now i'm really not sure who the biggest threat to Hibs actually is. Dundee Utd have fallen away badly and Morton play Hibs twice so in theory 6 points could be claimed back by the Greenock men should they win both games. Now that would be sweaty palms time. As for Falkirk, well a win on Saturday keeps their title hopes alive and they then come to ER next week.
Now I don't believe that even Hibs will throw automatic promotion away but they might still give us a few Heart tremors between now and May the 6th!

Yep! There are some possible 'worst case scenarios' hfc. However, I remain more optimistic now in the knowledge that our defence looks far more secure than even before Paul Hanlon's injury. We are now in a position where we can chart our own destiny and just keep winning matches. Also Hibs don't look like a team that will be easily bullied any more - I like that attitude and Falkirk beware! I'd luv to 'pan' them by four or five goals and rub their manager's face in it!

It should be 3 points for Hibs so, as long as we do the business against the other teams, draws against Falkirk and Morton will be good enough. I'd still like us to dominate and do it in style, though.

No gŕeen print hfc? Glad the cat made it across Big Grin

As 0762 the next 3 games are massive for us and will define the championship especially with Falkirk playing Morton today....a draw would be great with us picking up 3 points of course. ' MON Hibs

A mixture of dreadful finishing, great goalkeeping and the usual refereeing performance saw us only salvage a point . Dumbarton parked the bus and looked for a set piece and doubt they could believe their luck with the penalty and as for the second........ Doh Doh Doh

first half was awful,as bad as the st mirren game. 2nd half was better and we probably created enough to win it but too many players had off days again this afternoon and the sons keeper made some great saves (and looked ropey at times too). Gray and keatings in particular had absolute nightmares, and i thought rocky was at fault for their 2nd goal among the keystone cops defending.

I'm not even going to think about the falkirk/morton games. Like last season its scunnering how we can't do it in the 'bread and butter' games. We are going to have to keep an eye on morton now, they are better than falkirk IMO and we are going to have to hope st mirren do us a favour in their game in hand.

To be fair all the teams in the lower end are fighting for their lives and its no easy, but we really should be more comfortable now. I keep saying it but if we do go up a lot of these players are nowhere near the top flight level/mentality.

Too many are big game players and not as good as they think they are.

If results don't go our way in the next 2 games it could become squeaky bum time.....especially if Morton win their game in hand.

Still would have preferred not to have the distraction of the cup. Doh

Only positive today was Dylan Mc's cameo.....lets hope it bodes well for the future as John Mcginn certainly is not at the races lately.

Their second goal was just a catalogue of how not to defend from all parties involved. True the guy passed the ball into the net with great accuracy but the marking,  tackling, goalkeeper positioning etc was dire, especially as we had just got back into the game.  Doh

In reality, we are now 7 pts ahead of Falkirk and 11 pts ahead of United with a superior GD - it's turned out quite well considering the disappointment of the result v the Sons where 2 pts have been sloppily dropped and a pk opp badly scorned by Keatings. Re Falkirk and Morton, I must say I'm not unduly concerned by this supposed 'threat' after briefly watching part of their match on bbc Alba and they are not that good TBF! This evening match had 0-0 'written all over it' in an absolute 'bore' of a game that lacked any real quality and was full of overhit crosses, mispasses etc!!! I couldn't believe that Morton won this match! It will be Hibs themselves who will be letting themselves down if they allow either of this pair to get close to our top position!
