TIME FOR A CHANGE?

Town have scored 7 goals in 6 games; the same as Wolves in 4th.

Their shot accuracy (going off PA figures - Whoscored is down) is 2nd in the league; with 34.58% shots on target.

Their clinicality (from the same figures) in 22nd in the league; 15.91% of shots on target going into the net.

That suggests to me that the problem isn't creating chances, its creating good chances. The forwards are getting the ball, and getting the ball on target - that's their job.
Et in Arcadia Ego.

I could make a case for two strikers let alone the one that everyone is crying out for. Stead has done ok over the last two games but he isn't the answer despite him looking 100% better than last term. We don't know how long Vaughan is out for and what if Wells takes a knock? We have Pato coming back from injury but if we can accommodate 2 strikers in the budget, I would.

After the latest gutless non performance, we are looking more and more like relegation certainties and unless Hoyle comes to our rescue and digs into his deep pockets and brings in at least three championship quality players, I fear we are heading for a disastrous return back into League One.

Lets be honest , the team is littered with players who at best are of league One standard, and with over 17% of the season gone already, we only have 5 points on the board from the 24 contested and if we maintain this rate of return, then we are on target for measly 30 points or less.

So come on Hoyley, admit that this "self-sustaining and sell off your best players" ideology of yours is a load of bollocks and can never work in a business such as football. You need to take a leaf out of Steve Gibson's book at Boro and spend some dough and quick, otherwise we are only going in one direction.  Thumb down

Finally, If and when you do spend some more brass, stop bringing in sick notes, spent forces and damp squibs such as Peltier, Stead, Lynch and Hogg etc, because what we urgently need are some genuine Championship quality players and nothing less.

Think Deans to lower his expectation of this team, he's talked about them 'over achieving' quite a bit of late.....I'd settle for them just to 'achieve' right now.

Powell is still working his team and squad out but the problem is he hasn't got the luxury of pre season to do that and has to figure out who can and who can't very quickly. A defeat to Millwall on Saturday will signal big problems for Dean because this crowd like to tell him exactly how it is.

Yes. Been reading bits'n'bobs on there ART. To be honest, if he threw the towel in, there'd be a few on there who might have second thoughts I think.

Some right crap on that DATM thread from all sides but I'll say this much. One particular poster on that thread says if we are not happy with Dean then we should go with our own fortune and buy him out.....what a crock of shite that argument is.

Clearly all of us don't have the cash to fund the club like Dean does, probably not even if we added up our entire incomes but that doesn't mean we can't have our say. Times are hard for a lot of people these days and the luxury of watching football is one that doesn't come cheap so if people have genuine points to make then why should they be shot down with the old 'well buy him out' excuse.

Do we want rid of Dean....No
Has he made mistakes.....Yes

Despite the boards initial outburst about the supporters being to blame for Robins departure it's since been said by both Hoyle and Clibbens that in hindsight he(Robins) should've gone at the end of last season. If he had we would not now be in the messy situation we find ourselves in. Poor old Chris Powell is finding the going tough, he's essentially trying to work out who is and who isn't up to the job when this should've been done in pre season.
Yes the club are trying to stick to FFP rules but surely with the sales of Clayton and Norwood and a profit of over £1.5million the club have money to buy or at the very least loan a striker to support Wells. I fear if we don't then we are staring relegation in the face

According to 'happy clapper' the money from the Clayton and Norwood sales are to cover the shortfall in the clubs income, not really what the fans want to hear when we're 3rd bottom and taken at beating at our local rivals. I've been told once today that I should stump up my own personal fortune or convince another 5k attendees to come to games.

The club have been ignoring the striker issue for over a year now and its now coming back to bite them in the arse big time.

Don't think there's any doubt there's extra attacking options needed. Don't know if anyone saw the charts I tweeted on Saturday, but Town completed one pass in Leeds area during the first half - I was in the bath for the second - whatever you think of statistics/numbers/that sort of thing, that isn't enough. Goals come from inside the box, so if you're not in there, you're not going to score.

Martin Paterson has to be worth a try now he's back; he's scored goals at this level before, and there's nothing to say he can't again, but I don't see him and Wells as a long term option. Paterson, Wells, Bunn, AN Other and then the option of Stead if you really need him isn't a bad forward line, especially when there's the likes of Majewski and Ward who can operate just behind.

The one player I feel sorry for is Wells, who is being asked to perform an almost impossible task all alone up front.  I wouldn't mind if he was built like a brick shithouse, but no, he's only 5'-7" at most and weighs in at around 10.5 Stones wet through, so what chance has he got of playing such a role?  Doh

Surely, if you are going to play someone in this role he needs to be a six foot plus bruiser with plenty of meat on him, otherwise forget it.  I also believe the club are being very unfair to Wells by asking him to play this lone striker role and it's no wonder he looked out of his depth and uninterested at times last Saturday.

So come on Powell, wake up and at least put a "bruiser" alongside him, just like Bradford did with Hanson and I'm sure the goals will start flowing for him again.  Thumb up
