Tough day for the young 'keeper, but he'll learn from it. Adversity builds character.  Wink

Our lads were desperately disappointing in that game, though I'm sure they're better than that. It was a tactical mess - the all too familiar 'have the whole team milling about aimlessly around our own penalty box and punt up the occasional hopeful long ball (and by the way, don't bother putting any sort of pressure on the opposition when they're on the ball)' strategy that we've become so used to seeing from the first team. And I don't know if the occasion got to them but some of the individual mistakes were really amateurish, even at that age group. Things were all wrong right down to some of them repeatedly slipping and falling over because they had the wrong length of studs on, but nothing was done about it at half time.

Still, I agree that mistakes are there to be learned from so let's hope they all take something away from this.

Aird is playing a holding role in front of the defence for tonight's Youth Cup final apparently. Interesting choice, no?

Given the final score, no. Big Grin

Yeah, let's not try that in the first team shall we. Sore one for the boys there but Celtic are streets ahead of us in attack at youth level. We badly need someone to come in and start coaching strategy as well as running around cones.

Changes are afoot in the youth system - all levels to implement a similar formation/style as the first team. Looks promising, and yet another step in the right direction in an organisational area that sadly hasn't reached the required standard in recent times.

Academy boss Craig Mulholland's reputation is growing steadily. Thumb up

It may start to bring in youngsters that didn't want to sign for lack of chances. Can only be a good thing.

Good point, I hadn't considered the knock-on effects of having a decent and progressive youth set-up. Things seem to be starting to fall into place.
