Unfortunately the only way to keep up to date with the game was through Sue Smith on sky!! so no idea how accurate her take on the game was. But I think from what I can gather, we were really good and looked comfortable for the first hour or so, but had to hang on in the end with Palmer being outstanding and keeping us ahead.
Anyway, an away win and a battling performance, hopefully a confidence booster and only 8 points off the play offs.

Had a strange optimism before the game for two reasons Beale said in his preamble that the training over the past week was positive and buoyant and Beale himself has been doing well with our second team confidence they say is a big part of the game secondly I just felt we can’t possibly lose again although a draw was initially what I expected. I also read that Andy Carroll was worried after we sacked SB coz 3pts we’re guaranteed off us until that moment hmm!

Just looking at the table - bearing in mind games played, we could well be bottom in a game or two

I was absolutely fuming when I saw Beale's selection for the Reading game at the weekend. So angry that he selected the same dross that Bruce selected for the Luton debacle that I didn't even watch.
I was gobsmacked when that side managed to win and "play well"...
Tonight with a renewed hope, I decided to watch again and all I'm going to say is Reading must be dreadful to let this XI beat them...
This performance is exactly what I expected at the weekend when I saw our side. 3 at the back so we never get any bodies forward. Square pegs in round holes everywhere. 2 left backs on the pitch together. Phillips at right back when he's been an attacker his whole career. Wallace who is an out and out winger playing inside again. Asante who is never a forward leading the line.
To be fair to Beale, it's not his fault with Asante because we haven't got a forward at the club, but he has no excuse for the others...
It boggles my mind when a nobody like Beale gets the chance to take control of a first team game, but rather than doing something new to make a name for himself, just selects the same garbage formation as the manager who got sacked. Does this numpty not realise that Bruce got sacked for a reason?
I just find it mind blowing that we are paying such high wages for Swift and Rogic and they're being kept out by Phillips...
Just get back to basics ASAP. 4 at the back. 2 sitters. 2 wingers. 1 in the hole so we can play through the centre. Either Townsend of Pieters, not both. Either Rogic or Swift in the hole. What is so difficult about it? As for the forward situation, I'd honestly play Bartley there. What's the point in Wallace keep crossing when we don't have a player in the opposition half who can head the ball.
There are so many pretenders on the footballing gravy train, and unfortunately our club is full of them.

If this absolute dross doesn't hasten the need for a coach/manager that actually knows what they are doing then nothing will. Team selection, substitutions, tactics all straight from the Steve Bruce play book. 96 minutes at home to Bristol City!!!!! and not 1 effort on target.
