Is it a case of Too Much?

Dev, I can see the point you are making and like you wonder if its just too much coverage!! I moved to the States in 2001 and for the first few years really missed football, couldn't even get a radio commentary feed back then and hardly any was shown on tv. Gradually it started to be shown and now I get the Wednesday commentary every game and can watch every Premier League game for free, and I for one am loving it, watching as much as I can, even to the point of getting up at 5am most Saturdays to catch the early PL game. The one advantage I have is I am isolated from the media frenzy that follow the PL, sure I get info on the BBC, but I am not surrounded by all the chatter that goes on around football, I just get to enjoy the games on their own.

The other problem I would add with football in England is that it is so dominant in terms of media coverage and fan participation, so there is no let up in the hype it gets. Over here the media are all over sports just like there, but they switch their attention between the sports depending on the time of year. Winter is the NFL, summer is baseball and the NBA and NHL fit in between those, so if you are a big NFL fan there are times of year where there is very little coverage and I think that lack of information whets your appetite for the build up to the new season and keeps you interested once it starts.
