Like many others, I've always been inclined to defend Jeremy's steady hand at the tiller, but it's been clear for a good few years now that things have been stagnating for us. We've become a club permanently drifting sideways; better than going backwards, I suppose, but not by much.
Obviously it is a step into the unknown, but as an initial impression I'm glad to see that Lai isn't making any saft Randy Lerner style predictions about Champions League football. If we've got someone with his head screwed on and the willingness to take a few small steps forward, then that's for the best.
