Give over Chaz. The possibility that we'd get a lucrative draw in the 5th round was pretty high. The teams that Chelsea and Everton put out today had the game won by HT not holding on to a one goal lead in the 86th minute and that's how it should have been done.
Anyone of those players you mention could get a season ending injury on Tuesday. A £1.5M payday (or even £0.5M from a crap draw) would have been a big help in replacing them when the loan window opens. And we've actually picked up a load of points and moved up the table without Lees (yes we may have got more with him) so that didn't exactly destroy our chances of promotion did it ?
In fairness to the individuals involved, it wasn't a team. It was a collection of individuals thrown together in a match situation for the first time. If you break down the line up it was ridiculous how little time these player have spent playing with each other.
Price, Palmer, Turner, Sasso, Bennett
Palmer has played with Turner and Sasso but not as a pair, Turner has never played with Price or Sasso, Bennett has never played with any of the defence etc.
Matias has never/hardly played with McGugan, Semedo, Bennett or Sougou
Hooper has never played with McGugan or Matias (the guys who you expect to supply his chances)
and Joao is shit
All of the individuals chosen yesterday can come into the team and do a good job (except Price
) but to expect them all to come in as a fully functioning unit at once is bordering on insanity
especially when some are just returning to fitness. It would have been hard enough for them to gel if they had all been fully fit
It's no surprise that some of them were knackered in the last quarter
