We all agree he is a nice chap, but its irrelevant. We could have a complete bastard as manager, but if he won almost every game, would we be averse to it?
Does SG deserve a pop with money? No, not really in my humble.. If he couldn't show his capabilities with a smaller, but still decent squad. Then why does he 'deserve' a chance to waste money? Some games we deserve to win, and come away with sweet FA.
In fact, his insistence on hammering square pegs in to round holes, as he leaves round pegs on the bench often makes me wonder if the man is delightfully mad.
He certainly did a good job taking over from DJ. He stopped the leaky defence and he will always be given his credit. I believe, at this stage the longer he stays as manager the more detrimental it will be. And as MS says it will only delay progress.
