Should He Stay or Should He Go

If AI was to go then there are plenty of options abroad who would galvanise this team.

Quique Sanchez Flores is available and is my first choice. He is back in Spain after 3 years in the UAE where he won one of he main cups. He led Valencia to the Champions League 2 seasons in a row about 6 years ago when they had to keep selling their best players and then led Atletico Madrid to Europa League glory when they beat Fulham in the final in 2010. They also beat Internazionale in the Super Cup final a few months later. His stock isn't as high as it was 4-5 years ago now so may love a challenge in another new country.

He has always been one of my favourite coaches who gets his teams playing good attacking football with attacking wide men and intelligent strikers. His Atletico team was a 442 team but it would always become a 4222 when they had the ball with 2 wide men drifting inside and then back to a flat 442 without the ball in a medium defensive press. He is also fair to his players but if they don't play well he will drop them, it doesn't matter who it is. He is also hard on trouble makers that cause trouble off the pitch. Diego Forlan did that and even though he was one of Atletico's top players, Quique dropped him from the squad and never used him again.

The only problem that I have had with him in the past was his insistence on the 442. He would always choose it even if it wasn't working and would never give other formations a prolonged spell of usage even if they did work in the matches that they were used. (4231 and 433) However his time in the UAE seems to have changed him as he appears to be more flexible now.

Also based on what I have read, he can speak English.
Other options are Thorsten Fink and Bruno Labbadia. I talked about them plenty during the summer.

It's a shame that Roger Schmidt isn't available as he is fast becoming one of Europe's best young coaches. His work with Red Bull Salzburg was amazing and his tactical ideas are brilliant.
