I know it probably sounds crazy but I’m genuinely sorry at this news. I’m absolutely sure it’s the right decision because the run we’re on is catastrophic and shows no sign of changing, as we drop into the relegation places. It’s just that I was so optimistic at his appointment; a young coach with fresh ideas. Well, he was young. I was just hoping that, after a procession of old farts (Corberan excluded), this might be the inspired move we needed. I guess not.
As for a replacement, well they will have been sacked and out of employment so no compensation is required. I’m sure the bookies have already produced a list of potentials, most of whom will either be fantasy or dreadful. Carrick seems to be a name continually mentioned but, as others have said, not overly inspiring.
I guess we’ll await with trepidation what Nestor comes up with. I’ll happily take Unai Emery as long as he doesn’t bring any wingers with him
