The players from Italy kind of support my point though, no? The Italian league has less space in the box but the pace is far slower. Guys who look like legends in Italy come to the British game and make no impact because they don't get the time they're used to. Conversely the Italian leagues haven't lent themselves that well to players who are all about pace because the teams there know how to sit deep and nullify it. There are no absolutes either way, but some players really only thrive in one environment.

There are definitely a lot of guys who've come from the Netherlands and succeeded in Britain though. Lots who've failed too, but not so many that were considered that high calibre to begin with, and defenders seem to do better off (off the top of my head Kuyt, Kezman and Samaras are the only 3 I can think of who were big in the Netherlands at the time but didn't cut it as strikers in England. Kluivert did well at Ajax and Barca but was a bit of a failure everywhere else including Newcastle, so a bit mixed for him). It's probably no more of a risk than buying from anywhere else to be fair, so I'd say someone like Depay has a good chance of doing well.
