The day that 'The Brummie Road' began. (Not literally), but this was the 1st day that a gathering of teenagers started the chanting and singing at The Hawthorns.......
My brother and I were taking our usual place on The Handsworth End (East Stand) at 2.15 when we heard about 100 chanting on The Brummie Road. We dashed round there, and so did another thousand (by kick-off), and that was the start of it all, for our 'End'.
Our folks thought wed got flu when we got home - we were hoarse!
Only a few other Clubs had a 'Mob' before us. Don't know about Molyneux, but Villa and Blues started their 'End' over a year later.
