As they say in Valencia, "Esteban Toro es chatarrero, lleva un sombrero de chatarrero; juega para Wolverhampton, y es un hijo de puta." Carlos Corberan, Albion's new manager and first Spanish coach since Pepe Mel (remember him?) may not have said anything quite so calculated to win the fans over in his first few days, but even if he had, it would be irrelevant to the matter in hand. The fact is, Corberan's Albion need to do their talking on the pitch, and quickly.

If the old Cloughian adage is to be believed, it's not worth looking at the table until November. If that's the case, then Albion have one more match to try and improve our position before the eleventh month dawns and we all check the state of the league with eyes bulging out like looney toons characters. That match will be Saturday's early game against Sheffield United, currently in 5th place (sorry Cloughie, but sometimes you do have to check these things). The good news is that we've won our last two home encounters versus the Blades, and they're somewhat out of form, being winless in the last six. The bad news is, this is the first time in the club's 144-year history that we've won so few games from the first sixteen outside the top flight, and whatever Ron Gourlay says, that's not down to bad luck. With a touch of new manager bounce we might just shock Sheffield United as we did Reading a fortnight ago, but it'll take a performance and a half.

Tuesday night then brings Blackpool to the Hawthorns in a real dogfight six-pointer. Again, on home turf we've done well against the Tangerines, winning the last six encounters in all competitions going back to 1978, and unbeaten since 7th November 1964 (a day that TalkSaft will talk about very happily, given the chance). But in our current predicament, all bets are off. Both matches will, in different ways, be a major test for Corberan at the beginning of his tenure, and we're going to need something positive from one or the other to really start believing this ship can be brought back on course. Buena suerte, Carlos.

Lol. Maybe he would not say that. But all the same. Big games to make a big statement.

HaHa. Big Grin   The day that 'The Brummie Road' began. (Not literally), but this was the 1st day that a gathering of teenagers started the chanting and singing at The Hawthorns.......
My brother and I were taking our usual place on The Handsworth End (East Stand) at 2.15 when we heard about 100 chanting on The Brummie Road. We dashed round there, and so did another thousand (by kick-off), and that was the start of it all, for our 'End'.
Our folks thought wed got flu when we got home - we were hoarse! Wink
Only a few other Clubs had a 'Mob' before us. Don't know about Molyneux, but Villa and Blues started their 'End' over a year later.

Ok, not the team most of us would have gone with, but I'm guessing he's seen something in training!!!
Can't say I'm optimistic, but we'll see.

An absolute disgrace, how the f#$k these so called professional footballers can justify their salaries is beyond me.

It took him a full season to sort out our problems. You may have to give him time.

Do you have the patience?
