I genuinely thought there was a very good chance of Griffiths "settling down" if he returned back to Edinburgh and playing close to home at ER Stadium. He never moved to Glesca during his Celtic career and lives in Edinburgh, the same as Broony. I must also comment that mental illness is not an easy thing to tackle and that has been at the forefront of the whole Griffiths story for the past 18 months and why Celtic got such a poor return from him even though they were pragmatic and positive in trying to resolve his problems. I'd say it is almost a unique case in Scottish footie esp at this level. I think one of the only other cases that I can recall was associated with another Celtic player, George Connelly, in the early 1970s - a fantastically gifted CB/"sweeper" who also briefly played for Scotland alongside Jim Holton, but a reclusive guy who retired early from the game, another sad victim of this type of illness.
