The relegation threshold is actually more or less where you'd expect it to be at this point in the season (and more or less where it was this time last year). Of the teams currently in the bottom three, QPR have yet to pick up a single point away from home, and their remaining home games are all against teams in the top half of the table, plus Everton. For Leicester, it's going to come down to their ability to keep clean sheets, but to reach forty points with their remaining matches, they'd have to target wins against QPR at home, Hull at home, Burnley away, Sunderland away, Palace at home, us at the Hawthorns, Everton away and Stoke at home. Hull have some decent games left but injury problems all over the shop.

For the threshold to reach forty points, it would need a lot of the bottom teams to start beating top teams, because otherwise, there's just too many sides in the mix and too many six-pointers. I'd expect it to be around the usual 36, maybe 38 at the most.
