So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - Beefy 1965 - 11-01-2015 Things are getting really tight, Most at the bottom won Yesterday, The bottom four actually all won (Placings before Kick -Off) for the first time ever in Premier League History. So a simple Question how many Points will be needed to survive this season. As you see Bottom placed Leicester are only 5 points behind 12th Placed Everton ![]() A mighty scrap awaits, I think we may need 41-42 points just to stay out the bottom 3, Your thoughts guys ![]() 12 (13) Everton 21 5 7 9 30 34 -4 22 13 (12) Aston Villa 21 5 7 9 11 23 -12 22 14 (17) West Bromwich Albion 21 5 6 10 20 29 -9 21 15 (18) Crystal Palace 21 4 8 9 22 31 -9 20 16 (14) Sunderland 21 3 11 7 18 31 -13 20 17 (19) Burnley 21 4 8 9 19 33 -14 20 18 (15) Hull City 21 4 7 10 20 27 -7 19 19 (16) Queens Park Rangers 21 5 4 12 23 37 -14 19 20 (20) Leicester City 21 4 5 12 20 33 -13 17 RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - tidy - 11-01-2015 It's early, I know, but this is what we need to do before the end of the season.... Everton V West Brom........D West Brom V Tottenham.....D Burnley V West Brom.........W West Brom V Swansea.......W Sunderland V West Brom....D West Brom V Southampton..L Aston Villa V West Brom.....W West Brom V Stoke.............W Man City V West Brom.........L West Brom V QPR...............W West Brom V Leicester.........W Crystal Palace V West Brom..D West Brom V Liverpool.........L Man Utd V West Brom..........L Newcastle V West Brom.......D West Brom V Chelsea..........L Arsenal V West Brom...........L Total = 44pts ............and that's being optimistic, there are some big asks in there. If we are not 'safe' after the Palace game then I believe we are fecked. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - Stairs - 11-01-2015 Lol I love this partnof the season. Masochistic of me I know. But I will get a spreadsheet going and monitoring this very closely if I feel we are going to be in the scrap for survival. Not 100% certain we will be yet. But I think the last 5 fixtures is a good thing now. I gave only thought that way since TP arrived. I feel with him on board we will get some steel into the team. A new mindset and will be harder to beat. We will get some results and gone the final 'big 5' we will be up for those games. Therefore: Everton V West Brom........D West Brom V Tottenham.....D Burnley V West Brom.........W West Brom V Swansea.......D Sunderland V West Brom....W West Brom V Southampton..D Aston Villa V West Brom.....W West Brom V Stoke.............D Man City V West Brom.........L West Brom V QPR...............W West Brom V Leicester.........W Crystal Palace V West Brom..W West Brom V Liverpool.........D Man Utd V West Brom..........L Newcastle V West Brom.......D West Brom V Chelsea..........L Arsenal V West Brom...........L Total = 46pts The really interesting thing about doing a spreadsheet and having all the 'endangered' teams and their fixtures in it is that when you look at their run in and predict things. You don't need so many points yourself. BBC has a prediction option. It's worth having a go RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 11-01-2015 The relegation threshold is actually more or less where you'd expect it to be at this point in the season (and more or less where it was this time last year). Of the teams currently in the bottom three, QPR have yet to pick up a single point away from home, and their remaining home games are all against teams in the top half of the table, plus Everton. For Leicester, it's going to come down to their ability to keep clean sheets, but to reach forty points with their remaining matches, they'd have to target wins against QPR at home, Hull at home, Burnley away, Sunderland away, Palace at home, us at the Hawthorns, Everton away and Stoke at home. Hull have some decent games left but injury problems all over the shop. For the threshold to reach forty points, it would need a lot of the bottom teams to start beating top teams, because otherwise, there's just too many sides in the mix and too many six-pointers. I'd expect it to be around the usual 36, maybe 38 at the most. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - betterthanbaird - 11-01-2015 I think we'll stay up and we'll probably get at least one unexpected result in the last few. Much more excited for the relegation fight than the title race as ever. Villa will be useless but somehow stay up again. QPR are down. I think Palace will go down. Plenty of options for the 3rd team, probably Leicester imo. One team will race clear then 5-6 with 37-43 points. RE: So ..... Not sure about Palace. I think that with Pardoe in place they will find a bit of steel themselves and maybe just scrape out of it. They managed it last year and Pardoe seems to be a favourite son who might just motivate them. I think Leicester, Burnley and I hope Bagpuss' lot ![]() As already said the relegation scrap is going to prove much more exciting than the 'moneybags' battle. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - drewks - 11-01-2015 IMO the more teams that are involved at the bottom, the LESS points the bottom 5/6/7 will get, as they will all be taking points off each other, so I'm with Ska'd - I think 40 points will probably be enough, maybe even 38. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - Squirrel Regis - 11-01-2015 36 pts is the average to stop up I think I've read since the premier league started. West Ham went down with 40 but 37-38 should be enough surely ? Bottom 3 - leicester, qpr and hull or burnley. Fingers crossed but think we will finish above the villa who can't score. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - BBB - 11-01-2015 Yesterday, 22:41 3pts separate 8 teams - so game on. It look as if its going be a hell of a scrap unless 1 or 2 teams hits a winning streak. RE: So ..... Down At The Bottom . !!! - Bournemouth Baggie - 11-01-2015 Villa placed all their hopes on the return of Benteke. He's back and they are still p1ss poor, their defence looks shaky, Delph looks like he could go and I do believe they have used up their lives. That said they did win the European Cup I'm told |
