Having said that, under Irvine we play terrible football and are heading out of the league. So I'd take him in a heartbeat at least until the summer and move on.
However, I guess when we eventually sack Irvine, we'll have weeks of Downing messing around and then pick someone completely untried at Premiership level (again) and hope that they have a clue. And probably the candidate that we should be looking at will be at Hull or Leicester.
...I think that most people are forgetting that TP got Palace playing very good football last year when achieving The Even Greater Escape. With the players we have in our squad I could see him doing even better

The trouble is that we, as a club, are making ourselves more and more unattractive to any worthwhile coach, by continually hiring then sacking HCs as we have in the last 4 years - unless we give someone a longer term 'project' (
