Huddersfield V Birmingham- JJ's Definately Unofficial Official Match Thread
#1
It is the week before christmas and Huddersfield prepare to welcome Gary Rowett's Birmingham City to the John Smith's Stadium.

Huddersfield will be hoping that they can emulate what the blues have done the last few weeks in terms of bouncing back from one defeat, with a big victory in their next game.

Obviously no one needs reminding of what happened to town down at Norwich, but for those of you out there that live in a cupboard, lets put it this way, it wasnt a pretty sight... However, if we can can copy what Milwall did, then I think we may be rather happy come saturday night, with Milwall losing 5-1 at home to M'boro a couple of week ago and bouncing back with a 1-0 over brighton.

As for the visitors, they have had a complete turn around since the appointment of their new manager. With the side recording good results since their 8-0 home thrashing at the hands of Bournemouth. Since then the side won four, drawn 2 and lost one. That defeat being 1-0 at the hands of Lee Clark's Blackpool. The blues showed their bouncebackability with a 6-1 hammering of Reading, ultimately costing the glorified physio his job.

Chris Powell said post saturday that there would have to be decisions made in regards to his next line up, and considering that Lynch is injured and Wallace now has xmas and new year off, there is going to be a decision made there.

As for other positions, well I think the midfield trio will be the same. in my view it will be at the top end of the pitch where changes are made.

My lineup would be

Smithies in goal

Smith at right back
Hudson and gerrard at centre back
Robinson at left back

Buttercup Coady and Hogg as the midfield three

with Scannell and Hammill flanking Holt as a forward three

Now looking at that the thing that comes to mind is that Smith isnt a real threat going forward and is still learning defensively, but i still prefer him of peltier. Hudson and gerrard are not the quickest of defenders, nor are they the greatest on the ball, so I would look to coady and hogg to collect the ball from them.

I Expect Coady to sit in front of the back line, with hogg running around like normal and buttercup playing a little bit further forward and looking to make moves in the forward spaces.

Hammill and scannel on the flanks offer pace, however, hammill has been a bit of a lost sheep recently, might be time to get him back in the herd. On the other side, scannell has been a new player really this season and has formed a decent partnership with smith, so again i dont think it is worth breaking that up.

Holt was pretty much ineffective at the weekend, but I dont see the point in nakhi playing up top alone or playing out on the flank as he becomes completely useless. I also dont see the point in risking vaughan just yet. We have holt we may as well get every last minute we can out of him.

In terms off the bench, well Lloyd will have to take a pew since murphy's law is injured, peltier will offer the versitlility, dixon will be on it, lolleypop, vaughan, nahki and for the seventh berth on the bench, we may as well give it to someone like trondstand or billings, purely for more experience.

As for our visitors, I can see them being unchanged, that will mean former town player Lee Novak will be on the bench, he seems to be finding his game time rather limited and undoubtably a move to the west coast to the tangerines will be in the offing. They also have former charlton defender Morrison as a member of their back line. He has just signed for them on a permenant deal, which to me is surprising as I thought he would be one of the players that Powell would like to be reunited with.

Their side hasnt really changed since Clark left, Zigic has returned and will be on the bench on saturday. But one thing that has happened is Gray has got his first senior hattrick and will be after much of the same. Has struck me as a quick and nippy player that can play up top or out wide, our slow back line will probably have their work cut out in trying to deal with him. However, with him being young, his inconsitancy will still be there. Maybe we will catch him on an off day?

Now then, with Santa readying his troops ahead of his big day..

Do you think Powell will be on the naughty or nice list?
Will he get what is on his wishlist?
Who would you like to see on that wishlist (realistic!)
Do you think Deano Claus will be able succeed in bringing in these gifts?

And most importantly, have you readers been good this year? What are you hoping to recieve from your better halves etc?

Merry Christmas terriers and supports from further afield! Smile
