For 2 Clubs to play their 2nd Teams in front of a PrimeTime TV audience, when there's a bloody good chance of getting to the 6th Round (and only a few Prem teams left), is a sign of the times. The F.A.Cup is less meaningful than the League Cup of a few years ago. When I was at School we used to quiz each other: "Who won the Cup in 1926? Score? Opponents?" Now, I couldn't tell you who won it last Year or the Year before. Would we play our 'B' Team in the Final if there was a League match on the next Tuesday? All but 8,000 people felt the same about last night's game, and I half-wish there had been a good film on last night!
The bizarre substitutions made me think we really didn't want to progress. And instead of having an extra 1/2 hour, why didn't Big Dave just tell Bartley to pick the ball up in the box, and give Brighton a couple of penalties before the 90 mins? (Mind you, Hughton might have told Murray & Co to kick it into the stands, 'cos I think he told Andone to elbow Sam in the face to get sent off.)
The FA CUP may not be of interest to the club - but it is to the FANS
With the clubs attitude we may as well take the Astle gates down and chuck them away. The way we treat the FAC now is a joke.
I know it's just me, but just IMO our performance was as though it was an inconvenience for, Players - Management - Tactics & Substitutes.
When we were in the PL we couldn't play our best players as we needed them for the relegation fight, well we got relegated. Now we need our best players for our promotion. The way football is run in today's world doesn't please me at all.
The idea of playing the kids is great, but you don't check em all in together and reverting to a back 3 don't start me - well GJ & DM should be fined and reimburse all the fans who turned up last night. Now that's how you reward people who take the p*** in my world.
