What did you think about the sending off in last night's game between Liverpool and Basle?

Nor surprisingly, many Liverpool fans are up in arms about the decision; some claiming that it was the reason they didn't win that important match and hence make progress to the knock out stage of the European Cup.

Personally, I feel that whether contact or not actually occurred, the intent to foul the Basle player was clearly there.
If anyone has ever been poked in the eye, they would know just how painful it can be.

And, in any case, why did the Liverpool player reach behind him to fend off his opponent. He already had the ball and was being chased but not fouled by the Basle player.

The reaction of Brendan Rodgers is IMO totally wrong. The INTENT was there to foul and/or hurt his opponent.
In addition Liverpool never looked like winning the game even when they had eleven players on the pitch.

My respect for that once great Club has all but evaporated.
They concentrate on wrongs done or imagined done to the club and conveniently ignore their own faults.

Hillsboro is always being quoted as a disaster (which it was) but, I never hear Liverpool supporters referring to the events in 1985 at the Heysel Stadium which also led to the loss of life of over thirty Juventus fans.

Rant over!!
Some days I'm top dog, most days I'm just the lamp post.
