My first game at The Hawthorns since Derby knocked us out the cup a couple of seasons ago. Only a friendly but chances to attend games are few and far between.
Could this be the starting 11 for next week? If so, I was surprised to see Robson Kanu starting ahead of Rodriguez (and I’m supposing Rondon won’t be around for much longer).
Harvey Barnes looks like a great prospect. He’s got poise, a deft touch, can take players on.. he took both his goals very well and set up Robson Kanu with one delicious cross. It was just like watching his dad Peter Barnes play at the start of his career. That’s what I told the bloke next to me anyway. Turns out he’s not even related to Peter Barnes, now why did I think that?
Livermore: strong, solid, unspectacular but should be a key player at Championship level if he stays.
Morrison was busy, very lively and that was good to see. Hope they get that contract signed soon.
Brunt sill oozes class at times and strolls around a lot. Seemed to fancy himself as sweeper in the second half.
Didn’t think much of Cranie and would prefer Leko to Burke to be honest. This guy can’t even make the starting 11 in the friendlies and looks like a bit of a headless chicken from the little I’ve seen of him. OK, he’s fast but so was Kevin Bartlett (remember him?) 15 million quid ...oh dear.
Hegazi and Bartley generally dealt with the limited Coventry threat although there were lapses in concentation. Can’t complain about the result though, a fitting tribute to Cyrille overall and some great Soul classics played over the PA! Reckon that the last time I saw Albion score 5 in one game the big man was playing!
