COG

When we signed him I couldn't see the point as we already had Gozie (and German ..... less said soonest). Anyway once COG dropped in, Gozie was second choice then quickly out for the season.

COG seemed best as the worker ant in a three-man attack at Wednesday. He's played higher but he's also spent a lot of time being loaned to lower divisions and a lot of time not scoring that many goals for a forward of any kind.

Generally big successes in the the National League aren't players with a long, purely EFL career behind them ...... and that seems particularly applicable to forwards. It seems to me MA's recruitment policy of bringing in National League type players is right. COG doesn't fit the bill - he's on the way down and showed us next to nothing in a whole season. The problem is no one particularly wants him. Maybe DA has to swallow his own pocket and ship him out somewhere on an expensive loan.

Some players help you to score, some accidentally do quite a good job of preventing it. I think COG is one of the latter - he played a lot of games games at Burton in the Championship, scored 2 was it ....... and did the team score all that many themselves? They stayed up that season by defending not attacking.

Thing is though we do need cover for Gozie and a goal poacher to play with him.
