I were still a nipper when I got shoved off the end of my schoolmate's chaise-longue at his birthday party when England's goals went in that June afternoon in 1966. Never sat on another one since. Though I'd been to Leeds Road a few times by then he was already at Everton. I learned of his Huddersfield connection soon after. Never met the bloke, but never met anyone who's had a bad word to say about him. Gone but won't be forgotten.
