A truly wonderful player by the highest standards of any era and I remember Pele saying he was his most difficult opponent. He had a great full back partnership with Denis Atkins at a time when Town went on to produce many good backs - Parkin, Cattlin and McNab spring to mind. Remember walking to Leeds Road with my pals and seeing him walking with his Gladstone bag with his boots with the rest of the throng. Wished him luck and he smiled and thanked us. A modest and unassuming man and a stark contrast to many [not all] modern 'stars.'
Remember going to Stoke to see Stanley Matthews' return to the Potteries. Wilson had him in his pocket - but it wasn't convenient for the papers to report it that way.
A true legend and someone to be admired, cherished and respected for all aspects and achievements of his life both socially and professionally. Rest in Peace, Ray.
