The Protest

Glad you reported on the protest Blue. I wanted to know.

I'm not glad it was a flop because that makes it look as though everyone thinks there's nothing much to protest about - just some minority rabble. A flop protest is an own goal.

As you can imagine with my politics I've done some protesting. The big things are you have to get are numbers there and the protest has to look well-organised whatever its form. You also have to get coverage - and that doesn't often happen naturally; you have to alert every media source, and the more your protest is suited to being pictured the better.

One of Bob's Boards problems is that it doesn't get beyond being a forum. Every season people talk about the need to form an AFC Chesterfield, but no one takes the first steps, because that is going to be hard work, money and time for years. Bob's in general wants only to say it, not do it. They all want to act in an advisory capacity.

I think there is a need for a properly-run protest movement at Chesterfield. Unfortunately protest at the club exactly mirrors what sparks the protests themselves - just like the club they are chaotic and unfocused.
