The Protest - bluepooch - 25-02-2018

Whilst I am not against protesting I am quite happy that it was a flop as it was bigged up by Bobs Board and proves that they aren't as influential as they think they are .

Glad you reported on the protest Blue. I wanted to know.

I'm not glad it was a flop because that makes it look as though everyone thinks there's nothing much to protest about - just some minority rabble. A flop protest is an own goal.

As you can imagine with my politics I've done some protesting. The big things are you have to get are numbers there and the protest has to look well-organised whatever its form. You also have to get coverage - and that doesn't often happen naturally; you have to alert every media source, and the more your protest is suited to being pictured the better.

One of Bob's Boards problems is that it doesn't get beyond being a forum. Every season people talk about the need to form an AFC Chesterfield, but no one takes the first steps, because that is going to be hard work, money and time for years. Bob's in general wants only to say it, not do it. They all want to act in an advisory capacity.

I think there is a need for a properly-run protest movement at Chesterfield. Unfortunately protest at the club exactly mirrors what sparks the protests themselves - just like the club they are chaotic and unfocused.

The person on BB who made the call to arms hasn't made any comment so I assume even he didn't bother going.
The ideal time to demonstrate is the televised game with Notts County. Get some banners printed and plenty of chanting. Get it noticed. Much better than a man and his dog stood out in the cold.

Yes the televised game is an ideal opportunity. You're right.

And yes if the whole crowd can have the chance to give vent to its feelings then that goes home to roost, not only in town but throughout the football world.

But a one-man call to arms isn't very likely to produce results. As you say you have to prepare for it - and banners have to clever and even funny! Be careful Dancing, they'll be roping you in to be in charge ...... they could do much worse.
