You see, you get yourself all in a tizzy over nothing!!! 43 points would not have won you Group A, in fact the actual number of points you did get (55) would have in fact only secured you the runners-up spot in Group A, B or C. Unfortunately because of your early season performances you were in fact in Group D and hence finished 3rd in that one.
For next season you should remember that the cup competition is actually a sprint, not a marathon and should be approached that way!!
