my JGB
More than happy to take a point on the back of the Whatfud result last week.
Unsure really if there was ever any history/niggle with Terry Austin prior, he over celebrated his nod in and on 3 occasions smuggly gave it the big one in front of the 1500 travellers and again on the way back to the re-start ? His boot in Lossl face will catch up with him listening to the radio on the way back though his departure with a pulled hamstring late on, helped off by his physio provided great amusement and celebration - whatever, he's sidelined for a good few weeks now.
They were slightly better than us overall, but Lossl' keeping and shot stopping was excellent. Their midfield diamond was slick and they had the pacey outlet of Redmond always a threat but we defended well ourselves, after their opener they took control and we were glad to get to HT just 1 down.
2nd half we grouped and with changes that saw Harrygonads replaced by Smudger and Trolley Dolly given a run out ( he looked bright too), we actually looked likely to get another.
Our Belgian Claude Greengrass got on the end of a quality cross and the place went mad, goaly never moved as it nestled in the corner.
Lossl then in extra time threw himself across his goal and we saw the time out which was celebrated well, Zanka, Lossl and Smith giving shirts to those kids down the front.
I thought Williams had a strong game, the whole back 4 too, Ince it just isnt working but we dont have the bods to replace him, Big Col not as effective as last week but giving it a go, Mooy got more on the ball which signalled our improved 2nd half, overall we were bright and worthy of an away point, the locals will feel disappointed they didnt push on and get the win.
Heard today (good source) Palmer isnt training well whatever that means hence his inability to force his way back in.
We need as many bods willing and able over the next 2 weeks to keep this momentum going.
Great to come away from a place we;ve struggled for ever with something to build on over the xmas period.
