Not necessarily absolving Downing and Kiely from blame in team performances - I don't see them day in day out to judge what they actually do, and I don't think anyone else on here does either - but if we've had another transfer window of poor signings, that's certainly not down to Downing and Kiely.
What really worries me is that if the problem is with the players at our disposal, then sacking Irvine would do us no good; we'd be condemning another Mel-a-like to come in and try to get blood from a stone. And are we prepared to actually spend in January to put some pace on the wings and creativity in the centre if the options we've got don't work out?
One of my old boss's favourite sayings was "We're not at home to Mrs F**k-Up". Unfortunately, over these last two years it feels like Albion have appointed Mrs F**k-Up as the tea lady and every single one of her sons to the football department. I hope it can be put right before we pay the price.
